Bob Schreck Returns to Comics

Okay, there was really no serious suspense about this. Bob Schreck is one of the best editors in comics. He’s a veteran of Comico, Dark Horse, Oni, and DC. He’s worked with some of the biggest and best creators in comics over the past quarter century and really the only question people asked when he was laid off from DC earlier this year was “where will he end up?”

Answer: IDW Publishing.

He’ll be starting in October and the truth is that Bob is not only incredibly talented but he’s also an incredibly nice guy. I interviewed him ages ago (or maybe just 2004, but as Indiana Jones said, it’s not the years, it’s the mileage). I was writing for the late web magazine Ninthart and talked with Schreck in his offices at DC where at the time, he was Group Editor of the Batman books and was overseeing a sequel to The Dark Knight Returns from Frank Miller, new books written and illustrated by Matt Wagner, a comic written by George Romero and more. At DC Schreck also edited and oversaw Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s All-Star Superman, he put together Matt Wagner and Amy Reeder Hadley to launch Madame Xanadu for Vertigo, Paul Pope’s Batman Year 100. The list goes on.

I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

Welcome back, Mr. Schreck. It wouldn’t be the same without you.
